Knead to know: The benefits of making bread at home

Introduction:

Why Making Bread at Home is Better than Buying it from the Store

Bread is a staple food in many households around the world. It's versatile, delicious, and can be enjoyed at any time of day. While many people buy their bread from the store, making bread at home has several benefits that are worth considering.

Baked Fresh

With that said, here are 5 reasons why you should start baking your own bread at home today! 👊

1. Freshness

One of the biggest advantages of making bread at home is the freshness factor. When you make bread at home, you know exactly what ingredients are going into it, and you can ensure that they're fresh. Plus, you get to enjoy the aroma of fresh bread baking in your own kitchen! I love how the bread makes my kitchen smell like a bakery whenever I make a loaf.

2. Health

Making bread at home can be a healthier option than buying it from the store. Many store-bought breads contain additives and preservatives that can be harmful to your health. When you make bread at home, you have control over the ingredients and can choose healthier options, like whole wheat flour or gluten-free flours.

3. Cost

While buying bread from the store may seem cheaper in the short term, making bread at home can actually save you money in the long run. Once you have the necessary equipment, like a bread maker, the cost of ingredients is often lower than buying pre-made loaves. Plus, you can make larger quantities of bread at home, which can be frozen and enjoyed later.

I remember comparing how much i already spent on bread which was buying 2 loafs of sourdough bread from whole food every week, which is about $5 per load and since i bought 2 every week I was spending $10 a week on bread alone. And if i wanted gluten free options that would be about $8 a lead for a gluten free bread at whole foods. So $10 a week times 52 weeks is $520 a year on bread.

The Zojirushi Bread Machine is $385 and the ingredients the ingredients i use dont end up costing nearly as much as $520 a year. Also I make 1 loaf of bread now and it lasts me way longer because the bread-maker makes such a large loaf. so now i'm probably spending about $5 a week bread compared to $10.

4. Creativity

Making bread at home is a great way to express your creativity in the kitchen. You can experiment with different flours, add-ins, and toppings to create unique and delicious breads that can't be found at the store.

My favorite is to make the basic white bread recipe and ass 3 cloves of fresh chopped garlic and a stem of fresh chopped basil. This bread tastes and smells AHMAAZING!

5. Family Fun

Making bread at home can also be a fun activity to do with your family or friends. It's a great way to bond over a shared project, and everyone can get involved in the process, from measuring ingredients to finding new recipes to try. My family loves trying new flours from around the world and how it would taste. The best one i've found is a french flour that just makes the load taste life you're in a french bakery.

If you're interested in making bread at home, one great option is the Zojirushi Bread Machine. This bread maker is easy to use and produces delicious bread every time. It has several settings, including a gluten-free setting, and can even make jam or dough for pizza or pasta. Plus, it has a non-stick pan, which makes cleanup a breeze.

In conclusion, making bread at home has several benefits that make it worth considering. From freshness to health to cost to creativity to family fun, there are many reasons to give it a try. And if you're looking for a reliable and easy-to-use bread maker, the Zojirushi Bread Machine is a great option to consider.
